…after what seems like the worst summer as far as the silver screen is concerned – and no, Spider-Man II and Shrek 2 are just not enough – it looks like things are picking up.
Here are some recommendations. As always, just think about these… Heaven forbid that I would actually suggest that you see any of them.
Ray – Now Playing
All of you should now what this is about by now. Jamie Foxx at what is probably his best to date.
Sideways – Now Playing
Stage Beauty – Now Playing
Asks some good questions. For mature audiences.
The Machinist – Opens Today
Not a great film. But. Christian Bale is brilliant. And he’s going to be Batman.
The Incredibles – November 5, 2004
Pixar’s latest offering. Yay!
The Polar Express – November 10, 2004
Not too excited by it, but I am curious to see how good a job they did with the animation.
Finding Neverland – November 12, 2004
Johnny Depp as J.M. Barrie. Don’t miss it. And, I just found out that Burton’s remake of Charlie and the Chocolate factory will be starring none other than Mr. Depp as Willy Wonka. Can’t wait.
Bridget Jones | The Edge of Reason – November 12, 2004
I still like romantic comedies. So there.
Beyond the Sea – November 24, 2004
On the life and times of Bobby Darin. Directed by and starring Mr. Spacey. Seems that films of this sort are all the rage now.
A Very Long Engagement – November 26, 2004
From the writer and star of Amelie. Speaking of which, rumours have been heard that Jeunet might be tapped for the next Potter film. That should be interesting to see.
House of Flying Daggers – December 3, 2004
From the director of Hero. More great visuals.
Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events – December 17, 2004
Mr. Carrey, still makin’ us proud. And the books are good too.
Spanglish – December 17, 2004
Adam Sandler’s looking more respectable these days. First Punch Drunk Love, now this. Actually, Fifty First Dates was not that bad either.
In Good Company – December 29, 2004
Dennis Quaid, Scarlett Johansson, Topher Grace
I think that’s good enough for the next couple of months. Cheers.
